A 34-outlet pharmacy chain was writing off a meaningful share of stock to expiry every quarter. Each outlet tracked its own inventory, so slow-moving stock in one branch expired while another branch reordered the same item.

Counter billing was also slow at peak hours, with staff searching for items by name rather than scanning.

Every item was brought under batch and expiry tracking, with near-expiry alerts firing early enough for stock to be returned to the supplier or transferred to a branch where it moves.

Head office gained a consolidated stock view across all 34 outlets, enabling inter-branch transfer instead of duplicate purchasing. Counter billing moved to barcode scanning with generic substitution suggestions.

Expired-stock write-offs have been eliminated across the chain. Counter billing is approximately 2.4× faster at peak, and purchasing decisions are now made against a chain-wide stock picture rather than a single branch view.
