A national donor registry and request-matching system that turns the Scouts volunteer network into a searchable, contactable blood donation resource.
/images/projects/scouts-blood-hero.jpgBangladesh Scouts has one of the largest organised volunteer networks in the country, and a great many of those volunteers are willing blood donors. But willingness is not the constraint — reachability is.
Requests circulated through Facebook groups and phone chains. Nobody could search by blood group and location, nobody tracked when a donor last gave and was therefore eligible again, and the same few reliable donors were contacted repeatedly while thousands of others were never asked.
We built a national donor registry searchable by blood group, district and eligibility date, with the eligibility window calculated automatically from the last donation so ineligible donors are never contacted by mistake.
When a request arrives, the system matches it against eligible donors nearby and issues an SMS callout to that group at once, rather than relying on one coordinator working through a contact list.
Donation campaigns are managed in the same system, so volunteers recruited at a drive are captured into the registry immediately instead of on a paper form that may or may not be entered later.
/images/projects/scouts-blood-1.jpg/images/projects/scouts-blood-2.jpg/images/projects/scouts-blood-3.jpgThe Scouts volunteer base now functions as a searchable national donor resource, with requests reaching eligible donors in the right area within minutes.
Because eligibility is tracked automatically, donation load spreads across the whole network rather than falling repeatedly on the same known donors.
